Emergency preparedness and response involves many areas of SCDES in order to respond rapidly and successfully to hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, chemical releases and other events. Emergency response functions are integrated into every SCDES program, and these functions coordinate with other state agencies and organizations involved in emergency operations. This is done largely through joint planning and exercises carried out under the State Emergency Operations Plan.
