Canadys Station Air PSD Construction Permit Public Hearing

Dominion Energy South Carolina (Dominion SC), and The South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper), are seeking an Air Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) Construction Permit from the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) to construct and operate an Advanced Class Combined-Cycle generating plant at Canadys Station in Colleton County. This project is considered an energy infrastructure project under the South Carolina Energy Security Act.

SCDES is also conducting a Coastal Zone Consistency (CZC) review due to the proposed air project’s location within the S.C. Coastal Zone. For questions or additional information about the CZC review, please contact Jim White at (843) 953-0243, or by e-mail at James.White@des.sc.gov.

SCDES will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. to accept written and verbal comments on the draft air PSD permit for the proposed project.

The public hearing is formal and provides an opportunity to make oral comments that will be heard by SCDES staff and recorded by a court reporter. There will be no questions and answers during the public hearing. SCDES values each participant’s involvement in the public hearing and will conduct it in a respectful, orderly manner with reasonable limits on the length of comments, if necessary.
